A Free Guide to Buying Chilean Homes and Land
The Northern region of Chile starts at the border of Chile and Peru, and also borders Bolivia on the eastern side. Northern Chile continues down to the city of Copalapo.
Northern Chile is indicative of Chile as a country in that it is host to some extremely contrasting environments including the Altiplano and the Atacama Desert.
The Atacama Desert is probably the driest place on earth. In some places there has never been a single drop of rain since man began recording such events!
Compare that to the Altiplano, which is a high plateau (More than 2 miles above sea level) that receives tropical-like rainfall for two months out of the year.
"What kind of person would be crazy enough to buy land in Northern Chile", you might ask. Other than those who enjoy climates like those found in Nevada, those who dream of a trip to Mars, enjoy riding around in dune buggies, exploring archeological wonders, and fine sandy beaches where every day is cloudless and being rained out is never an issue.
I have seen AMAZING homes in parts of Northern Chile that resemble some of the modern houses being developed around Las Vegas with huge, irrigated lawns, in-ground swimming pools, wrap-around verandas... Breathtaking sunsets, dry, sandy beaches, a warm climate... All you need is a good irrigation system and you've got a desert mansion for a fraction of what you would pay in the US.
