A Free Guide to Buying Chilean Homes and Land
Central Chile is the business hub of Chile, in some parts cosmopolitan and in others rural. Central Chile has a lot to offer including: world-class vineyards, colonial architecture, beach resorts, skiing, national parks, universities... The land is very fertile in this part of the country, which is why this agricultural gift has become central to chile both geographically and culturally.

Central Chile has a mild Mediterranean climate with relatively hot dry summers from November to March, with temperatures reaching up to 95 degrees Fahrenheit on the hottest days. Winters run from June to August and are more humid, with typical daily temperatures of about 59 degrees Fahrenheit. Even at night it rarely goes below freezing.

Chile's capitol city, Santiago, sits at the foot of the Andes. It is one of Latin America's most sophisticated metropolitan cities. Santiago has a solid infrastructure, which includes the Santiago Metro and the new "Costanera Norte," a freeway system passing below downtown that connects the Eastern and Western parts of the city. On most days you can get from one side to the other in as little as 15 minutes.
There are two major flaws with Santiago. The first is the heavy smog in winter. Thermal inversion (when a stable layer of warm air holds down colder air close to the ground) causes high levels of pollution to be trapped and concentrate within the city. If you are interested in buying real estate in Chile, and would like to be close to Santiago, we advise buying outside of the valley, perhaps in the foothills of the Andes.
The second problem in Santiago is that the Mapocho river, which runs through the city from the north-east to south-west, is heavily polluted with industrial and household sewage.
Other than that, Santiago is a fantastic place to live and work, with two symphonic orchestras, over a dozen museums, a zoo, major universities, large vineyards, and several ski resorts less than an hour away.
